Westlake Village, CA October 09, 2026 --(PR.com)-- Annual gala raises $1.4 million to support local children, families and nonprofits.
Sherwood Cares, the member-run charitable foundation of Sherwood Country Club, celebrated an extraordinary evening of generosity at its annual gala, A Night in Bloom, held Sunday, September 27, 2026, at Sherwood Country Club.
More than 370 guests gathered for Sherwood Cares’ largest fundraising event of the year, raising an impressive $1.4 million net through spirited bidding on exceptional auction packages and generous paddle raises. The funds will directly support local non-profit organizations serving children and families throughout the surrounding community.
The enchanted garden-inspired evening brought the A Night in Bloom theme to life while highlighting the remarkable impact that can be made when a community comes together in support of its neighbors.
“I am deeply inspired by the generosity shown by the gala attendees, sponsors and volunteers,” said Dina Furash, Board President of Sherwood Cares. “Their support enables Sherwood Cares to champion the local nonprofits that nurture, uplift, and empower those in need.”
The evening was led by Gala Co-Chairs and Sherwood Country Club members Shainaz Donnelly Burg, Jane Lorin and Britney Semler, whose leadership, along with the dedication of the gala committee and volunteers, helped create a memorable night in support of the Sherwood Cares mission.
Comedian Craig Shoemaker served as emcee, bringing humor and energy to the evening while helping guide guests through a program centered on the tangible impact of their generosity.
Two powerful speakers offered firsthand perspectives on how Sherwood Cares grants are making a difference locally. Ventura County District Attorney Erik Nasarenko shared how grant funding is benefiting local youth recovering from trauma. Krystal M. movingly recounted her journey through the foster care system and described how local nonprofit organizations supported by Sherwood Cares helped her and her siblings during critical times in their lives.
Their stories underscored the purpose behind the evening and the importance of investing in organizations working directly with vulnerable children and families.
Following dinner and the fundraising program, guests continued the celebration at The Forbidden Garden, an after-party featuring a full bar, cigar bar, late-night bites and a DJ who kept the dance floor filled throughout the night.
The evening was made possible through the tremendous generosity of its sponsors. Calbourne Cares and The Gerszt Family served as Presenting Sponsors. Major sponsors also included Seth and Jolyn Haye of The Oaks Group at Morgan Stanley, The Tesoriero Family, Mark and Shainaz Burg, and Polacheck’s Jewelers.
